Goals for 2008

It is that time when I look over the past year evaluating success, failure, action and inaction.  Was last year successful?  How is one to know?  How am I to know?

The logical place to start is looking at my goals for the last year and compare them to my accomplishments, more logically I should compare my accomplishments to my goals.  What were my goals for last year?  Hmm.  I wrote them down somewhere, but I’m not quite sure where.

I can only remember one of my goals and it was accomplished!  I wanted to on average read 2 books per month for the year.  Hurray!  I am a success.  Pat on the back, when and where is the parade in my honor?  But what about the other goals?  I can’t remember any other goals.  I prepared a long list of goals to accomplish, but alas I got too busy coasting through life that I didn’t keep track of them.

This lack of accountability and laziness is quite bothersome.  Did I waste away a year of my life because I wasn’t living intentional enough to track my goals and accomplishments?  I’m not going to let that happen again this year.  2008 will be different and will be the most intentional year of my life.

The year of Intentionality (it may be a word)!

  1. Become the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13).
  2. Test drive a new habit each month.
  3. Continue to read 2 books each month.
  4. Maintain accountability through continuous blog postings.

Four concise and measurable goals with accountability built in.  What could be better?  Leave a comment if you have any advice for keeping goals or links to good goal related articles.
